‘Walking a Mile’

I can’t count the number of times I have wanted to quit writing!!! There have been several, several times when I wanted to just quit. But every single time, the hand of my daddy, was ever so faithful to pull me up!

I remember one particular Wednesday night when I went to church telling the Lord, “Lord, I’m done writing…. Please Lord, I’m done.” The Word of God for that day which my pastor, Bro Ernst Dumeresq delivered, seemed like it was specifically designed JUST FOR ME. When I returned home, I had new strength and courage, to keep my journey going!!!

How can I give thanks, for all that thou hast done for me O’ Lord! I give thee praise! I give thee praise!

About 15 years ago, a man of God prophecied to me and said, “I see you write…. I see you write.” I had no clue what he was talking about back then! Several years later, I began to get it. I had my own plans, but the Lord had His plans too. I’m so so so thankful that His plans prevailed over mine!

I can’t thank God enough for helping me come out with my first book titled, ‘Walking a Mile’.

Dear friends and family, do buy it and read it and let me know if you enjoyed it and what portion of the book ministered to you! I would love to hear from you! Here’s the link where you can order a paperback or one in Kindle format. Friends in India, kindly wait for a couple of weeks. We are working on getting it printed there. As soon as it is available in stores, I’ll definitely let you all know!

A big ‘Thank you’ to all my loving readers. You are another reason which kept me going over the years! Trust me, everyone….EVERYONE around you needs encouragement. So give it freely! ๐Ÿ™‚

“The Lord will fulfill his purpose for me; your steadfast love, O Lord, endures forever.” Psalm 138:8

To God be the Glory! To God be the Glory!

A 12th grader’s song

When I was doing my 12th grade, I had to sing a song called, ‘Mother, sweet mother of mine’ for my school annual day. I don’t think I quite grasped the depth of that song back then. But as time unfolds, and I get a little bit more older, I understand thatย the tiny little things that Mum did back then, has truly accomplished the greatest miracle in my life – ‘To KNOW that I am a sinner, saved by Grace.’

I am convinced beyond a shadow of doubt that the greatest miracle in a person’s life is ‘Salvation’. No one can talk me into making me understand that I’m a desperate sinner. It is a divine act of God, to bring us under that conviction. But, in order for a child to truly understand that he/she is in need of a Savior, the role that intercession plays, can’t be understated.

All through my school years, I remember my Mum fasting as often as she could. I never understood Why, much less asking her if she had her dinner! I remember the days my Mum would take my feet and put them on her lap and I could feel her cold tear drops wet my feet. Little did I know that every tear drop, went into the hands of God who was careful to keep them in his record (Psalm 56:8).

And when the time was ripe, all the seeds of tears that Mum had shed at the feet of the Lord, came before the throne of God, and BAM! God stepped in and I had a powerful encounter with the living God, who changed my life forever! The tears of a Mother will Never, ever go in vain!

There are many interesting Mom’s in the Bible. But I have always been amazed by Mary, the Mother of Jesus. Not much about her personality is revealed in the scriptures, but the very fact that this young teenager was chosen by God to raise the Son of the living God, tells me that God trusted her to sow the seeds of intercession, that Jesus much needed, to walk the path that he walked. And also 3 of her other sons too, were chosen to serve God (Mark 6:3). I also believe, that even as she stood at the foot of the Cross beholding her first born marred more than any man (Isaiah 52:14), her intercession kept going before the throne of God.

Indeed the faithful prayers of a Mother, availeth much! (James 5:16)

To my dear Mum – Thank you Mee, for your faithful intercessions for Bin and me.

And to all the lovely Mom’s out there – Your intercession for them today, is what truly shapes their tommorow’s. So never quit getting on your knees for your kids. That’s the single most important thing that you can sow for your child – That they may one day know, that all the world’s glory is vain, but there is Hope only in Jesus NAME!

“The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.” 1 John 2:17

The prayer of a Mother is powerful…. POWERFUL!

Blessed month ahead, folks!

One step:

Whatever be our battles that each of us may be facing, it may become overwhelming to look at the mountain of a task ahead of us and wonder how we are ever going to reach that destination that literally seems miles and miles away!

A testimony I heard from a man of God a couple of years ago:

A man was called by God to preach Christ in the mountains of Nagaland and the surrounding areas. The place he resided in, was surrounded by snow capped mountains with extremely low temperatures. God had called him to minister there.

One particular weekend, he had an invitation from a nearby village to preach in their church. There was no proper transport facilities as these were snow capped mountains, with rough terrain. It so happened that he had to walk for about 3 days to get to that village to preach there. Sincere to the call of God, after getting off at the closest bus stop, the man of God began walking.

Few hours into his walk, his slippers tore apart and he had to walk bare-foot. Although his feet was bleeding, they became numb to even feel the pain, he testified. When he could not endure the journey any longer, he broke down to tears and told the Lord, “Lord Jesus, I give up.” Just then, the Lord Jesus appeared by his side and told him, “Don’t look at the distance to the destination, just take one step at a time. I’ll walk WITH you.”

“As a mother comforts her child, so will I comfort you;” Isaiah 66:13

The Lord may not always appear by our side like he did for this humble man of God. But one thing is for sure. The Lord is close to the brokenhearted and cares for every soul that is crushed in spirit.

When mountains seem larger than we can handle, and the destination seems too far away, we have an assurance from our God that we DON’T have to walk alone. HE WALKS WITH US!

Sincere thanks for all the sacrifices of the servants of the Lord across the globe, to serve God inspite of their pain!

And to all of us who trust in Christ – He walks with us in our journeys and helps us conquer mountains, with ease!! Don’t look at the distance, one step at a time, is all that we need!

“You know how I carried you on eagles’ wings and brought you to myself.” Exodus 19:4

Blessed day ahead!

Heeding certain God-sent voices

1 Samuel 25 talks of an interesting encounter King David has, with a woman named Abigail who speaks words of wisdom and steers David wisely, in his moment of anger! Abigail’s words came as sweet as honey, to restore David back to his sound mind.

We all can relate to such a story when we were quickened to act in haste, without thinking of the repurcussions of such an act. Sometimes our God sent ‘Abigail-voices’ maybe the voice of our spouse or parents or parents-in-law or leaders of the church.

“Is not wisdom found among the aged? Does not long life bring understanding?” Job 12:12

Although Abigail was not really an old woman, the scriptures tell us that she she was a woman with ‘good understanding’.

Personally I believe there is much wisdom in gray hair and we younger folks belittle that a little too much! We tend to think that we understand situations better. If we admit to the truth, we all struggle at some point or the other and yet we won’t approach an elder for advice or counsel!

Another incident of a great healing is recorded in 2 Kings 5.

Now bands of raiders from Aram had gone out and had taken captive a young girl from Israel, and she served Naamanโ€™s wife. She said to her mistress, โ€œIf only my master would see the prophet who is in Samaria! He would cure him of his leprosy.โ€ 2 Kings 5:2,3.

Here in this story, we see that wisdom came from a young slave girl, and thank God that although Naaman was a mighty commander of the army of Syria, he still was humble enough to listen to a word of counsel from a young servant girl.

The voices that God sends to us, may not always be in the form that we expect it to be packaged. Many times they come in unexpected forms. But when we are humble enough to receive that counsel, the life and joy that comes as a consequence of heeding that word, is immense.

Here is one of my favorite scriptures for counsel.

“Where no counsel is, the people fall: but in the multitude of counsellers there is safety.” Proverbs 11:14

When we set our hearts to have God’s perfect will in our lives, God steps in and perfects everything that concerns us (Psalm 138:8).

It may not always be a lightning and thunder answer everytime, but sometimes little servant girls could also be a voice through which God can speak! Do we hear Him?

He’s still workin’ on Me!

There have been many a times in my life, when I’ve looked up to someone, only to realize sooner or later that he/she is not as perfect as I thought of them to be! I walk away, disappointed! I wouldn’t have gone past few hours that I myself said something crazy or did something stupid and here I am saying, “God, please forgive me, I’ve stumbled again!”

Here’s truth as it is. Every one of us, are ‘work in progress’. While we all strive hard to be perfect in God’s eyes, none of us have attained perfection completely. And to expect that degree of perfection from a fellow believer is also equally silly.

Our Father in heaven is a Master in working out His beautiful character in each of us in different ways. The way he works with me, may not be the same way he may work with you. But one thing we can be sure of! JESUS IS WORKING! He is working in every one of our lives, to make us like gold, that we can shine like the stars forever and ever, all around His awesome throne! We can always trust the loving hands of our gentle Father.

Not that I have already attained, or am already perfected; but I press on, that I may lay hold of that for which Christ Jesus has also laid hold of me.” Philippians 3:12

He's+Still+Working+On+Me

If Paul said that he has not yet been perfected, how much more, then you and I? Here’s an old little Sunday school song that has been playing in my head. ๐Ÿ™‚

“He’s still working on me, to make me what i have to be; It took him just a week to make the moon and stars, the Sun and the Earth and Jupiter and Mars; How loving and patient he must be, Coz’ he’s still working on me!”

Isn’t our God good! He is ‘OUR FATHER’ in Heaven!

Blessed day ahead!

Man’s arch-enemy

On Sunday, we had a powerful service at church. We saw a video clip about a new drug, which is ravaging the lives of young teens around the world. All kind of drugs are bad, but this one was terrible. Young, healthy, teens who open the door to this drug, were manifesting extremely wild behaviors in the video clip. Some manifested like animals, while another young teen, banged his head on a wall with no sense of control, upon taking this drug. It was extremely heart breaking to see the next generation being ruined by the agenda of man’s common enemy, Satan, in these last days. End of the service, the church gathered at the altar and interceded for the soul of America, which has strayed way too far away from it’s Maker!

Jesus said,

“The thief comes to steal, kill and destroy, but I have come that they may have life and have it more abundantly.” John 10:10

The heart of God has a plan for every one of these young people. The heart of God longs and loves them beyond their wildest imagination. The hand of God which knit them in their mothers womb had a purpose over every one of their lives. And yet to see these kids being ripped apart by the forces of the dark, would move the heart of any child of God, who has tasted the love of Jesus.

The distort, hate, and the lust which the enemy has brought into this world, which the hand of God lovingly made, is beyond belief. Bloodshed in movies have become common. Infact the fiercer the fight scenes, the higher the movie rating. It is unbelievable to see the extent to which the enemy has gone, to desensitize our little children. The hate and the lust which our TV shows feed into young minds is only getting more conspicuous, with time. Our Next Generation is being ravaged before our very eyes.

The Call of the church:

When unrighteousness gets rampant upon the Earth, it is a clear Shofar call to the church to rise up and pray like never before. Pray for our young people, that they may be set free into the destiny that God has called them into! Pray that their blindness will be undone that they may reach to the foot of the Cross for mercy, forgiveness and grace.

Jesus is Love. Oh…His heart is so full of LOVE. For every one of these young ones. This post is more of a call to pray; as an individual, as a family, as a small little Prayer group, or as a church. Prayer is POWER. The most powerful weapon that the church still has to push back the darkness and establish righteousness on Earth. Pray…pray especially for the next generation kids, whom the enemy is targeting to destroy.

The prayer of a righteous person is powerful and effective.” James 5:16

Rising above the Voices:

Every day we are bombarded with many voices. From taking a quick look at the world around us, we easily read that people are more discouraged, hurting and hopeless. Fear has taken the upper hand and has left man in a state of frenzy. World over, crime rates have increased. Mind health has deteriorated, even among young teens! A word which was very rarely used in clinics a decade ago, is surfacing all over the Internet these days – ‘Depression’.

With over a 1500 channels to keep man’s mind occupied, and thousands of restaurants to stop by for a good meal or connecting with a friend by a single click of a button – despite all the advancement in technology which is supposed to aid man in his well being, there seems to be a downward spiral into the pits of despair, instead of an upward climb. That’s ironic to me! What is supposed to help man hasn’t really helped much after all!

There are times when you’ve had the best gathering with your friends, yet when you return, you feel empty.

Clearly, I think you and I can agree that the voices around us don’t satisfy the deepest cry of our hearts. Whether those voices come through TV, radio, FB or through people – more often they leave us just a little bit more emptier than before! I’m sure we all have felt that way, at some point of time in our lives!!

When Paul and Silas were thrown into prison for their faith in JESUS, here’s what they did.

And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.” Acts 16:25

Prison represents gloom, despair, loneliness, and sorrow. But when Paul and Silas began lifting up the name of JESUS in such a place, there was an earthquake which broke off their fetters of iron chains in an instant.

“And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed.” Acts 16:26

There is power in the praise that arises from the place of despair. Angels move and demons tremble in such an atmosphere. The voices that were beating on you flee and the Spirit of God, floods you with Joy unspeakable. Chains of darkness are snapped in a moment when you exalt the name of JESUS. A fresh Hope floods your soul. There is something about singing to the Wonderful NAME of JESUS!

In a time, when darkness is getting denser by the day in the nations of the World, the light in God’s children shine brighter than before, simply because they know the Power of Worship when everything around them is dark.

Always take time every night to spend time singing to Jesus. By yourself and as a family!

‘Nandriyal thuthipadu’ . Blessed week ahead!

Love the last verse:

Sareeram aathuma aaviyilum sorndhu pogum velaiyil ellam; Thuthi sathathal ullam niraindhal thooyarin belan kidaikkum.

Everytime you feel weak in your body, soul and mind; fill your heart with Praise, and the Strength of your Maker will fill you!
