Just pick up your guitar n’ get singin’…

David loved the Lord. His worship was pure and was a delight to the heart of God, that God chose him to be the King of His people! All the days that he was a Shepherd, he just picked up his handmade instrument, (which I’m presuming didn’t even strike a perfect chord) and loved God with all of His heart! He probably let his tears flow, as he played on his instrument. Undoubtedly, he had heavens attention!!!

Very often we think that, more the people, more the sophisticated instruments, and more the skillful voice, the presence of God HAS to be there. But, actually many times the contrary is true. It is in the quietest times of prayer, when you hum a familiar hymn in adoration to the Lord, that you and I attract the presence of God.

While it is indeed true that God delights to be present in the congregation of the righteous, your silent times of adoration and worship with your own voice is precious too, in the ears of your Maker!! Your voice may be haggered, it may be pitchless, or it maybe a feeble one! But those tear-filled, broken hearted praises that arise from a sincere heart, is sweet fragrance to our King!

Just you n’ Jesus n’ your guitar….oh what a delight!

“I will lift my voice to sing Your praise, O my Strength— for You came to my defense. O God, You have shown me Your loving mercy.” Psalm 59:17

Blessed day!

Fine oils

“….fine oils have been poured on me.” Psalm 92:10

Psalm 92 is a beautiful psalm of Praise and Worship unto the living God. The Psalmist begins with such soulful adoration and makes this prophetic statement in verse 10.

When we begin to worship God in spirit and truth, adoring and worshipping him, there is a divine transaction that takes place, which the Psalmist has accurately captured in this psalm. The anointing of the Lord is poured out upon us, and we smell the fragrance of Christ wherever we go.

Mark 6:56 is an evidence to this truth. “They begged him to let the sick touch at least the fringe of his robe, and all who touched him were healed.” A few verses before, we read that Jesus withdrew himself to the mountainside to pray. During His time with God, fine Oils were poured upon the Lord, that even His clothes were dripping with the Oil, in the spiritual realm. The demons knew it, the angels saw it and God had set His seal of approval on His Son, whose obedience to God His father, was unmatched. As a result, multitudes were healed, delivered and set free from their sicknesses and bondages.

The same is true of our lives too. As we walk in absolute obedience to God and kneel in Prayer, worshipping the Lord with our hands held high toward heaven, fine Oils will be poured out upon us. We will be the fragrance of Christ wherever we go, spreading the life, the Joy and the Peace of Christ, that the Son of God alone can offer!

“it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me;” Gal 2:20

Your time with God Almighty is a divine time. Dont trade it for anything! Spread the fragrance of Christ wherever you go!

Blessed day!

God’s Ravens

The life of Elijah is such a power packed one! He was a man who walked in such a powerful anointing and a close walk with God. Just as Enoch was taken away to glory without seeing ‘death’, so was Elijah! He was one of the men of the Bible who didn’t see ‘death’, as we know it! I jaw-drop in awe, at such people, who have such an intimate walk with God!!

In 1 Kings 17, Elijah declares to King Ahab that they will not see dew nor rain except at His word. And it was so. But the Word of the Lord came to Elijah, to depart from that region and go to a place called Brook Cherith and there, the Ravens would provide for him. Also he was to drink from the Brook to quench his thirst.

There are seasons in our lives, when we are desperate for God to provide direction for us. In the life of a believer, God’s most important provision, is His direction for every step of our lives. And God is always, ALWAYS faithful to provide us that direction, when we are truly seeking Him for direction!

A couple of years ago, I remember I woke up one Sunday morning and out of the blue, I just had a feeling that we should go to Grace church. Grace church is not our home church. We go to a small little traditional church. But that morning, I really felt we should go there. So I asked Jeev, if we can go to Grace. He agreed and we went. The Sermon that day was ‘Gods Raven’ for us, for that season of our lives that we were going through! I remember sitting gripped in awe listening to every word! It was such an important Word that both Jeev and I, had to listen to!

Sometimes, we really under-estimate the power of the Holy Spirit in each of us! The Holy Spirit’s still small voice speaks to us, just as the Word of the Lord spoke to Elijah 4000 years ago! But many times, we brush it aside, thinking we are imagining things! Isn’t it awesome that you and I have the same invitation to be friends with God, just as the mighty prophets of Old, had!

What a friend we have in Jesus! That sums it all up!!

Good day, everyone!!

A Father’s heart!

Jaden is 8, and enjoys playing his games on the iPad. He always enjoyed the iPad, but these days he plays with such a zeal, and is relentless until he goes up to the next level.

For the last one month or so, he had been asking me to buy him a new game. I told him to finish 40 levels in a particular game and then maybe he could ask his dad to buy him another one. He worked really hard and managed to finish all the 40 levels.

Yesterday, he came again and asked if he could have the new game coz he had finished all 40 levels! I told him to ask his dad. When his dad got back from work, Jaden went to Jeev to ask him to buy him some coins and gems so that he could use it to buy the new game. Jaden asked for the $5 package. Jeev wanting to play around with him, said, “I’ll get you gems for $3, coz $5 is too much!”. Jeev and I were watching his expressions.

We could tell from his face how badly he wanted to buy the $5 package. He had been working for a whole month to get it. But when his dad told him he could only get him a $3 package, as hard as it was for him to agree, he agreed, with his countenance almost about to burst forth in tears. Trust me, both our hearts sank! Of course, Daddy went on to buy him what he asked for and delighted his little boy!

Jaden didn’t cry. It was just that his countenance fell, coz his little heart was broken. N’ Daddy n’ Mommy couldn’t bear the sight of it!

How much more our Father in Heaven! Our countenance matters to our God! The Lord who is full of compassion wants to bring delight to your heart and mine! He makes all things beautiful in His time!

“Why are you in despair, O my soul? And why have you become disturbed within me? Hope in God, for I shall yet praise Him, The help of my countenance and my God”. Psalm 43:5

Blessed day everyone!

….into the hands of God…

Anything that goes into the hands of God is taken care of, by the Lord. We can be rest assured that it is in safe hands. We don’t need to worry about it again!

Whatever it is that weighs your heart down, commit it into the Lord’s hands. Rest and Trust.

When 2 loaves of bread and five little fish, which looked very insignificant, went into the hands of God, it satisfied the hunger of thousands.

When the 2 cents of the poor old widow, went into the hands of God, the Lords hand of blessings was indeed upon it.

When young Mom’s brought their children to the Lord, that he might simply put His hands on them and bless them, they kinda had an understanding about the power of God’s Mighty hands!

Whatever it is that you and I may hold on to firmly, let go….. let go into the hands of Jesus. What goes into the hands of God, will never return void. It will indeed be blessed and become a blessing.

Think about the last words of Jesus on the Cross. ‘Into your hands, I commit my Spirit’, said the Lord! Think about the way the Spirit of Christ powerfully moves amidst us, even today!

Anything that is entrusted into the hands of God will indeed become a blessing! Commit your ways into the hands of God n’ Trust Him!

Blessed day!

Our silent companion!

Several years ago, (if I am not mistaken I think it was before Jaden was born) Jeev and I had a conversation. It was something about the planets and the sun. I don’t remember what the conversation was exactly about, but I was trying to prove to Jeev that the Sun does not move about, but rather, it was just the planets that went around the Sun. He was arguing that the Sun definitely was making an orbit. I didn’t agree.

Neither of us cared to Google….it was just one of those childish arguments which happens every other day in our home!

But that night I was quite taken aback to find that the Sun indeed made a circuit from one end to another. I learned it not from Google- but from the Bible.

“In the heavens God has pitched a tent for the sun. It is like a bridegroom coming out of his chamber, like a champion rejoicing to run his course. It rises at one end of the heavens and makes its circuit to the other; nothing is deprived of its warmth.” Psalm 19:4,5,6.

I was astounded to say the least. Not about the fact that the Sun moved, but about the fact that God cared enough to step into our conversation and clear things out….like a loving friend!!! I was reminded of a scripture: “Then those who feared the LORD talked with each other, and the LORD listened and heard.” Malachi 3:16.

Sometimes, when I go to pick up Jaden from school, the traffic is kinda overwhelming. Not that it is heavy, but when I see all the traffic and the people, I can’t help but wonder in awe. Who am I amidst all this crowd, I ponder! Lesser than a speck of dust…a fleeting shadow of no substance.

Yet to think that the Master of this Universe cares enough to answer your silliest of questions, makes Him incomparable!!! A loving, gracious, awesome Father in Christ we serve!!!

Blessed month ahead!!

When God Speaks:

God’s words have transforming power. They have creative power. His Words impart life.

Take a look at the story of Zaccheaus. Such an incredible story of the transforming power of God’s words. The crowds were thronging toward Jesus to just get a glimpse of the Lord. Amidst the crowd, was a short man named Zaccheaus who also wanted to see the Lord. He tried pushing through the crowds, but perhaps the people were annoyed by his presence.

The Bible does tell us that He collected more taxes than the amount required and exploited the people. Quite evidently the people didn’t like him. Perhaps he was like one of our Indian Politicians!! Not straight forward with the job that was put into his hands!

But this man had a curiosity to see the Lord. Zaccheaus, though an unfair government official, had the same heart that you and I have. The desire to ‘atleast’ see God.

Putting behind all the shame in the shadows, irrespective of what people spoke of him, he climbed up on a Sycamore tree, just to see Jesus. Little did he know that the first step that he took to see God, would attract the presence of God toward him.

Your first step toward God, attracts the presence of God toward you.

“When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” Luke 19:5

The words that Jesus spoke were simple words that you and I regularly speak with our folks on a day-to-day basis. Nothing fancy about it. But what made the difference was that it proceeded out of the ‘mouth of God’. That made a world of a difference!! Zaccheaus repented before the Lord and promised the Lord that he would compensate 4 times the money he had unlawfully taken from the people.

The words of Jesus, transformed a wicked heart, brought repentance and converted a sinner to a righteous man in a matter of minutes!!!

“When God speaks, He gives us the ability to do something that we couldn’t do one second before He spoke”. -Kris Vallaton.

God’s words are powerful. They are our bread, by what we live by. Gods words carry Grace and strength to enable us to do what we can’t do by our own strength!!! Man does not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.

Has God given you a Word? My friend, that Word is more precious than a Palace filled with gold and a house filled with silver. Treasure it, rest on it and passionately pursue it! The Word of God! What a wonder!!

“The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.” 1 John 2:17.
