I have often been pondering about the things that Heaven values. Here are few things:
Taking the back seat when given the front seat; lifting others while humbling themselves; not glorifying one’s own name, but exalting the name of Jesus; singing to the Lord than singing to people; repenting in quietness ; and even singing out-of-tune as a family than singing on screen for people to see. What heaven values is seldom esteemed on earth, and what earth values is seldom esteemed in heaven!! This came across to me as a great disconnect!!
I have often wondered if I should really be doing what I’m doing. Can’t I just be content singing in my kitchen with just the Lord as my audience??!!
Several things came to my mind:
- In the years past, we had some anointed ministers of God who preached in mass meetings for the sole purpose of spreading the gospel. Some of my favorites are R Stanley uncle, Emil Jebasingh uncle, DGS uncle. Back then, ministry on TV or radio was still a very rare thing.
So the effort that they had to put to mobilize resources and arrange a simple meeting was in itself a Herculean task.
But not so the case now! With the rise of social media, anyone, absolutely anyone can share the gospel to millions. In the day and age we are living today, social media has indeed become a powerful tool to spread the gospel and share the precious love of Jesus!
2. I have often wondered why secular videos and movies are watched by millions while gospel related content suffers viewership. Clearly the pull for secular content is greater because souls are primarily driven to feed what their flesh desires. So, a tamil movie comedy scene becomes more attractive than an Emil Jebasingh uncle’s passionate shorts – even for a Christian!!!
To me, social media is the ocean where all the fish ( souls ) are currently swimming. Even in villages, pattima’s have cell phone access!!! In order to catch the fish, one needs to spread his/ her net in the ocean where the fish are!! And the net has to be of sturdy quality ( messages and songs inspired by the Holy Spirit )
3. In these last days, God is recruiting not just a select few to proclaim the gospel, but everyone who has accepted Christ Jesus as their Savior is an essential worker for Gods kingdom. Remember the parable where the Lord hired servants who had nothing to do and asked them to go and work in his vineyard??!! That’s you and me!!!
4. So every opportunity we get to do anything for Gods kingdom, be it as small as sharing a scripture on WhatsApp or as big as arranging meetings for an anointed man of God to speak, we must do it with all our might!!!
5. Here’s my little encouragement for you: If you have accepted Christ as your Savior, in your own small way, share the Love of Christ somewhere, somehow! People need the Lord!!! If you are doing something for Gods kingdom, keep at it, with your eyes not on the views, but on the King of the Jews!!!
With all that’s going on around the World, his return is very near. So as much as we keep sowing the seeds, we must also be careful to uproot the weeds in our own lives, that we may be found spotless and blameless in his sight!!!
In closing, sure! Heaven does value your voice that sings to him in private, but the same voice that sings in private can also bring the same glory when lifted up in public! But, if you are ONLY singing in public and not in private, BOY! You are in deep trouble when the master returns!!!
“About nine in the morning he went out and saw others standing in the marketplace doing nothing.
He told them, ‘You also go and work in my vineyard, and I will pay you whatever is right.’” Matthew 20:3,4
Blessed day!!
