We had an interesting discussion in our Bible Study today!! We have been working on the book of Exodus, and right now we are going through the ten commandments. Today, one of the discussion question was “How can we honor our parents in this time and day, especially when we are far away from them.”

There were some really interesting thoughts that came up! One of the things that annan ( Ebi annan, who leads the Bible study) suggested to do, was to talk to our parents of their faithfulness as parents when we were little and thank them for the same, using WORDS. Yes, actually TELL THEM!! That may seem like a very trivial thing to do, but I have seen that it totally delights them when we talk of our childhood days with them, and remember the little things they did for us with love. 💕

Annan specifically said that he often tells his 85 year old mother that “he is in ministry only because of his mom’s faithful prayers.” Sincerely I believe, there is no greater joy that we can give our parents than expressing our deepest gratitude to them in WORDS!!!

Many years ago, during one of the conversations that I was having with my Mom, my Mom was very sullen and said, “I have never sat down and taught you the Bible or anything like that. Maybe I should have…” I thought how I could lift her spirits up and immediately responded,”Mummy, but you made sure that Bini and I prayed everyday!” Her voice lit up!! Absolutely!! That was a moment when I realized how much WORDS could do when they get old!!

WORDS could build or words could break. When we are several thousand miles away, the gift of WORDS to our aged parents is indispensable! When we were young, THEY encouraged us!! Now maybe it’s our turn??!!!
