The Iron Dome, is by-far one of the best technological inventions of our time. It is an air defense system which accurately diffuses missiles mid-air and prevents them from reaching it’s intended destination. It was designed by US and Israel aerospace industries, to protect innocent civilians in the mid-east.
When one sees all these heavy weaponry and all the arms and ammunition used by the armies of the world, it surely makes the common man fret in fear of the times we are living in.
As brilliant as these equipments could be, there is something that has more power than these!
If I were to say that the words that flow out of our mouths are spiritual iron domes that has the capacity to dismantle the most powerful attacks of the enemy, I won’t be exaggerating one bit!
2 Kings 6 talks of an interesting encounter that prophet Elisha had with the Syrian army. The Syrian King sent his entire army to capture ONE man. I couldn’t wrap my mind around that fact!!! The best of earthly armies with the best of the equipment back in those days, was sent to capture just One man!
Even then, they could not even lay their little finger on Elisha! Such is the protection that God provides to every single child of His!
Elisha prayed to the LORD, “Strike this army with blindness.” So he struck them with blindness, as Elisha had asked. 2 Kings 6:18.
The words that arise out of you and me is powerful. It CAN disarm enemies.
When you and I walk with our God, meditating His Word day and night, God’s words settles down in our hearts like fire and when we take them out of the sheath of our hearts and speak them, enemies are dismantled. The plans of the enemy does not prosper, because stronger and mightier are the weapons of our warfare. The Key, is to walk with JESUS!
I love this scripture in the book of Samuel. It is true for me and you, just as much as it was for prophet Samuel.
“The LORD was with Samuel as he grew up, and he let none of Samuel’s words fall to the ground.” 1 Samuel 3:19.
One of the reasons God gave this promise to Samuel is because as the first part of the verse says, “The LORD was with Samuel..”. When we walk with Jesus like Samuel did, surely God will not let the words of the righteous fall to the ground, because our words carry the power and purposes of the living God!
About 12 years ago, an interesting incident happened, which I still remember vividly. My husband and I went for a nursing home visit, along with few of our church friends. We went once in every month and held a simple worship service, after which we went in two’s to each room and prayed for the elderly sick who were housed in the nursing home.
One such day, after a short worship and prayer, as is the routine, my friend and I, headed to the rooms to pray. My husband went with another friend of his. When we reached one particular room, there was a very old lady with tubes running and a couple of medical equipments attached to her. She was very restless. She would sit up in her bed for two seconds and lie down. And again get up, frantically look around the place and lie down again. Immediately she would get up, sit up on her bed and look around the room as if she lost something. She appeared restless and fearful.
When she saw the two of us, she began pleading with us…”Please help, please help…” Neither my friend nor I knew what she wanted, but I felt as though she was being oppressed by a spirit. Frankly, I didn’t know how I could help her. I was barely a new Christian and didn’t have any idea of the authority of the Christian or anything of that sort.
My friend looked at her straight in the eye and placed her hand on her head and spoke with authority, “In the name of Jesus, I speak peace.” “Peace to you, in the name of Jesus”.
I’m not exaggerating one bit. Its the solid truth. Almost instantly, she quieted down and fell back on her bed and went to sleep. INSTANTLY! It was the first time I saw something like that. I came back home amazed to learn that what the scriptures spoke WAS absolutely true!
If you ask Me for anything in My name, I will do it. John 14:14
Every word that Jesus spoke to the common people of His day, never failed to set them free from their bondages, burdens and prisons. Our words carry the same power, because the King of Glory lives within us!
“Greater is He that is in me….” 1 John 4:4
