His Kingdom Rules:

Nestled amidst one of our favorite Psalms are these simple words: “His Kingdom rules over all.” Psalm 103: 19.

I’ve memorised Psalm 103 some years ago and recently, I did the Psalm with my son Jaden as well. But for some reason, the depth of the scripture had never dawned on me.

Everytime I read or heard about the Kingdom of Heaven, I thought of it to be a beautiful place of splendor, and one day when my race on Earth is o’er, I’ll finally get to behold that beautiful place.

Recently, I understood the scripture in a whole new light.

As much as it is true that there is a Physical place called heaven, it is also true that the Kingdom of Heaven is a spiritual place within each of us, where Christ rules and reigns as King.

“For indeed, the kingdom of God is within you.” Luke 17:21

I was raising questions to myself. What is the purpose…. Why does the Kingdom of God have to be ‘within’ us?

Sharing a couple of nuggets that I learnt….

Just as the Kingdom of Heaven rules over all the affairs of the Earth, God desires that the Kingdom of Heaven should also rule over all the affairs of our lives. Isn’t that why, Jesus taught us to pray thus : “Let your will be done on Earth, as it is in Heaven.”

How would we know what the will of God for our lives is, if we don’t first seek His Kingdom? All the answers for our lives, pertaining to this life, is in the Kingdom. And the more we seek our King and the ways of His Kingdom, the more we walk out God’s will for our lives on Earth, as it is written in Heaven.

So, in everything, be it a small or a great matter, God desires that we seek first His Kingdom for guidance and direction (Matt 6:33).

Secondly, knowing that the Kingdom of God is within us also gives us great boldness to pray for the affairs of the Earth in accordance with the will of God. Irrespective of the darkness that we see all around us, the moment we step into the Kingdom of Heaven in prayer, a great Hope and Joy fills us because we are given the authority by our King, Christ Jesus the Nazarene, to decree Light into dark situations in this World.

“And I will give you the keys of the kingdom of heaven, and whatever you bind on earth will be bound in heaven, and whatever you loose on earth will be loosed in heaven.” Matthew 16:19.

What a relief to know that neither the Kingdom of darkness, nor the Governments of the World have real dominion, but rather “His Kingdom rules over all” – primarily through YOU and ME.

It is almost unbelievable the kind of authority that you and I have, to impact the affairs of the World through prayer!
