God’s words have transforming power. They have creative power. His Words impart life.
Take a look at the story of Zaccheaus. Such an incredible story of the transforming power of God’s words. The crowds were thronging toward Jesus to just get a glimpse of the Lord. Amidst the crowd, was a short man named Zaccheaus who also wanted to see the Lord. He tried pushing through the crowds, but perhaps the people were annoyed by his presence.
The Bible does tell us that He collected more taxes than the amount required and exploited the people. Quite evidently the people didn’t like him. Perhaps he was like one of our Indian Politicians!! Not straight forward with the job that was put into his hands!
But this man had a curiosity to see the Lord. Zaccheaus, though an unfair government official, had the same heart that you and I have. The desire to ‘atleast’ see God.
Putting behind all the shame in the shadows, irrespective of what people spoke of him, he climbed up on a Sycamore tree, just to see Jesus. Little did he know that the first step that he took to see God, would attract the presence of God toward him.
Your first step toward God, attracts the presence of God toward you.
“When Jesus reached the spot, he looked up and said to him, “Zacchaeus, come down immediately. I must stay at your house today.” Luke 19:5
The words that Jesus spoke were simple words that you and I regularly speak with our family and friends on a day-to-day basis. Nothing unusual about it. But what made the difference was that it proceeded out of the ‘mouth of God’. That made a world of a difference!! Zaccheaus repented before the Lord and promised the Lord that he would compensate 4 times the money he had unlawfully taken from the people.
The words of Jesus, transformed a wicked heart, brought repentance and converted a sinner to a righteous man in a matter of minutes!!!
“When God speaks, He gives us the ability to do something that we couldn’t do one second before He spoke”. -Kris Vallaton.
God’s words are powerful. They are our bread, by what we live by. Gods words carry Grace and strength to enable us to do what we can’t do by our own strength!!! Man does not live by bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of God.
Has God given you a Word? My friend, that Word is more precious than a Palace filled with gold and a house filled with silver. Treasure it, rest on it and passionately pursue it! The Word of God! What a wonder!!
“The world and its desires pass away, but whoever does the will of God lives forever.” 1 John 2:17.
