At this they covered their ears and, yelling at the top of their voices, they all rushed at him, dragged him out of the city and began to stone him…… “Lord Jesus, receive my spirit.” Then he fell on his knees and cried out, “Lord, do not hold this sin against them.” Acts 7:57,59 – Stephen the disciple
“It is far from my mind to punish the persons who were responsible for the death of my husband Graham and my two children. ….I’ve no hatred for anyone. I’ve no anger.” – Gladys Stains, 1999
“I found a dead body and realized that this was the suicide bomber. … I sat on a chair not far from the dead body of the bomber. After looking at the bomber’s body for a while, I thought, ‘Should his life have been wasted tragically like this?’ At that moment there was no hatred or revenge in my mind, but only love for this bomber who had chosen the wrong path.” -Pastor Yonatan Yap Setiawan, soloCentral Java, 2011
Christian Martyrdom has its solid foundation on LOVE. Christians have been persecuted for their faith in mass numbers all around the world. They are beaten mercilessly, spouses are killed, tortured, and severely persecuted for the faith that they hold. Some are shot dead on the spot, if they were known to be a Christian. And seldom does one even defend himself! Why would the Christian suffer so much pain for their faith and yet not even defend himself?
Son: “Dad will you defend yourself if the Waodonians (tribesmen of Ecuador) attack you?
Dad (Jim Elliot): No son… we won’t.
Dad: Son, They aren’t ready for heaven yet.
– Movie, End of the Spear, True story of missionary Jim Eliot, 1952

“I see a great high wall rising around me, and am finding out at last when it is too late, that it is easier to get into hell than it will be to get out” – a husband’s last words to his wife who offered comfort saying they will meet in the next life. “…it is appointed for men to die once, but after this the judgment,” Hebrews 9:27

Where, O death, is your sting?” The sting of death is sin,…. But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 15:55-57

Jesus said, “I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” John 14:6
Jesus said, I am the gate; whoever enters through me will be saved. John 10:9.
Sin cannot enter Heaven. In our sinful state we can never enter God’s presence. That’s the purpose of the CROSS. That’s the message of EASTER. Jesus took our sins, that our sins be washed away by His sinless blood. We have peace with God through the CROSS. We have the love of God through the CROSS. Nothing that we ‘do’ can cleanse our sins: Sins we commit daily through our thoughts, words, and deeds.
Jesus has died for you. Martyrs have died for you. So that you may come to the cross of Jesus for the forgiveness of your sins. There is forgiveness of sins, only at the cross of Jesus. Is your soul secure in the hands of thine maker?
For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. John 3:16
Decide…. And decide today, to give yourself to the one who has carried you thus far and to the one who will receive you into His eternal home.
Jesus loves you and so does the Christian Martyr!
