One of the reasons why I feel lazy to spend long times in prayer is, sub-consciously there is a question which I have sort of believed. The question is “How does it matter?” Many a times when I think I ought to pray for my city, my generation, the next generation or my country, this question: “How does it matter?”, drives me out of my knees. I think for many of us, Christians, this question poses as a big hindrance to our time of prayer. The moment you begin to realize that YOUR prayer really does matter, I believe that it will revolutionize your prayer life. And this month I would like to encourage you to spend more time on your knees for issues that stir your heart, coz YOUR PRAYER REALLY DOES MATTER.

The reason why most of us feel that our prayer does not matter, is because in the physical realm (what our eyes can see) we see nothing. So I’d like to help you see the spiritual realm. Genesis chapter 28, talks about the dream that Jacob had at Bethel. This is the dream:

“He had a dream in which he saw a stairway resting on the earth, with its top reaching to heaven, and the angels of God were ascending and descending on it.” Genesis 28:12

What were the angels doing on the stairway, ascending and descending on it? Revelation chapter 8 says that: “… another angel, having a golden censer, came and stood at the altar. He was given much incense,  that he should offer it with the prayers of all the saints upon the golden altar which was before the throne.” Revelation 8:3. (emphasis mine) One of the prime duties of the angels is to carry the prayers of the saints, to God’s throne and bring answers from God’s throne to the lives of the people. That’s why they were…. are …. and will be busy on the stairway….. CARRYING YOUR PRAYERS TO GOD AND BRINGING ANSWERS TO YOU FROM GOD.

Be it a personal need, or a social need which burdens your heart, just take the time to kneel before the throne of God and PRAY. Coz the moment you kneel, heaven gets busy. Angels are sent to your side to carry your prayers in golden bowls to be taken straight to the throne of God. And in due time, YOU WILL recieve the answer for your prayer. So just don’t give up. But PRAY and PRAY, coz your Prayer is Precious.

Abraham was just ONE man who interceded for the City of Sodom and Gomorrah. Moses was just ONE man who brought out the children of Israel from the land of Egypt. Elijah was just ONE man. Yet he prayed earnestly that it would not rain, and it did not rain on the land for three and a half years. Again he prayed, and the heavens gave rain, and the earth produced its crops. (James 5:17) All through the Bible we see how a single man’s prayer life has impacted thousands of people. Why would your prayer not impact your family, your work place, a city or a nation???? SURE IT WILL. I encourage you to Pray and pray even more…. Coz your Prayer is precious and needed more than ever before!!!!

GET ON YOUR KNEES AND PRAY!!!!
