Against all odds: Life from the dead

Spring time it is! Time to get the gloves on and dig into the dirt! Uprooting the weeds and planting flowers anew, O what delight to the soul!

About two years ago, I planted some mint stalks in the ground not knowing it’s rigorous capacity to spread. I harvested 4 gallon bags of mint leaves last Summer and shared with my neighbor friends. This year I was shocked to see that the mint had creeped well into our lawn. I had to uproot it all. Now I know better, so I planted them in pots instead, and shared some with my tamil church family.

With my eyes closed and with all my strength, I dug through the dirt and pulled up as much as I could. It’s not completely done yet- I still need to finish it out, but boy, was it handy for Biriyani or what??!!! Out of all the roots that I uprooted, one particular root caught my attention.

The stalk was dead. I mean it was DEAD!! Dry, brown and dead! But there was a fresh stalk of mint that came out of something that looked absolutely dead! I thought to myself of all the instances in the scriptures where God brought life from seemingly dead situations. No tongue can fully give an explanation to occurrences such as these. But GOD IS ABLE TO BRING LIFE FROM THE DEAD. Put your HOPE in Him.

SARAH:

Sarah was 90 years old. The Scriptures say that her womb was as good as dead. God perhaps waited… for situations to turn completely dead so that he can manifest his glory and make his power known for generations to come that HE IS ABLE to cause life to spring forth from what may seem dead! Sarah conceived and brought forth ISAAC at 90 plus!

LAZARUS:

Lazarus was sick. Word was sent to Jesus. But JESUS LINGERED for yet another few days. Lazarus was now dead. 1…2…3…4 …. Four days went by and Lazarus was still in the tomb.

Then JESUS CAME. God of heaven and earth. God who has authority over life and death.

I can’t count the number of times God has highlighted John 11:40 to me. The same words he spoke to Martha! And Oh, the life that it brings to my hopeless soul!!!

“Did I not tell you that if you believe, you will see the glory of God?” John 11:40

Jesus said, “Lazarus, COME FORTH” and sure enough at the words of the CREATOR, his CREATION walked out of the tomb. The entire town marveled!!

JESUS:

Jesus took my place on the CROSS. For my every evil thought and my every evil deed, my Savior took my place on the Cross. He was beaten, flogged and crucified beyond recognition. At the ninth hour, he yielded up his spirit into the hands of God.

His body was laid in a tomb. The Romans placed as many guards as they possibly could to keep the tomb shut. But if God has DECREED life to something, human strength is a frail attempt to stop it. On the 3rd day, the stone was rolled away. JESUS ROSE AGAIN….FROM.THE.DEAD!!!

All of the scriptures from Genesis to Revelation point to the Resurrection of the Savior. All of Creation from up above the skies to down below the earth, even a little mint plant, in its own simple unique way, point to the Resurrection of Christ.

The good news doesn’t finish there. All of us who have placed our faith in JESUS will also rise again.

Because I live, you will live also.” John 14:19

Death has no hold on us!! LIFE HAS INDEED WON!!!

Where, O death, is your victory?
Where, O death, is your sting?”
But thanks be to God! He gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus Christ.” 1 Corinthians 15:55

No matter how dead situations may seem, there is a God who still breathes LIFE into them!!

Blessed Month ahead!!!

    Hi Akka,

How are you? I randomly saw this post of yours in my mail. I saw the heading, but I wasn’t going to read it through. However, when I saw the date as April 30, I was surprised and wanted to read it through.

Last year April 30, Amma passed away. Apart from grief, I have often thought where is Amma, when will I meet her. This post was very encouraging, that there is life, there is hope beyond death.

Thanks for this post! Jesus used this to talk to me and comfort and assure me. Thanks akka!

    Love Susan.
