Every day we are bombarded with many voices. From taking a quick look at the world around us, we easily read that people are more discouraged, hurting and hopeless. Fear has taken the upper hand and has left man in a state of frenzy. World over, crime rates have increased. Mind health has deteriorated, even among young teens! A word which was very rarely used in clinics a decade ago, is surfacing all over the Internet these days – ‘Depression’.
With over a 1500 channels to keep man’s mind occupied, and thousands of restaurants to stop by for a good meal or connecting with a friend by a single click of a button – despite all the advancement in technology which is supposed to aid man in his well being, there seems to be a downward spiral into the pits of despair, instead of an upward climb. That’s ironic to me! What is supposed to help man hasn’t really helped much after all!
There are times when you’ve had the best gathering with your friends, yet when you return, you feel empty.
Clearly, I think you and I can agree that the voices around us don’t satisfy the deepest cry of our hearts. Whether those voices come through TV, radio, FB or through people – more often they leave us just a little bit more emptier than before! I’m sure we all have felt that way, at some point of time in our lives!!
When Paul and Silas were thrown into prison for their faith in JESUS, here’s what they did.
“And at midnight Paul and Silas prayed, and sang praises unto God: and the prisoners heard them.” Acts 16:25
Prison represents gloom, despair, loneliness, and sorrow. But when Paul and Silas began lifting up the name of JESUS in such a place, there was an earthquake which broke off their fetters of iron chains in an instant.
“And suddenly there was a great earthquake, so that the foundations of the prison were shaken: and immediately all the doors were opened, and every one’s bands were loosed.” Acts 16:26
There is power in the praise that arises from the place of despair. Angels move and demons tremble in such an atmosphere. The voices that were beating on you flee and the Spirit of God, floods you with Joy unspeakable. Chains of darkness are snapped in a moment when you exalt the name of JESUS. A fresh Hope floods your soul. There is something about singing to the Wonderful NAME of JESUS!
In a time, when darkness is getting denser by the day in the nations of the World, the light in God’s children shine brighter than before, simply because they know the Power of Worship when everything around them is dark.
Always take time every night to spend time singing to Jesus. By yourself and as a family!
‘Nandriyal thuthipadu’ . Blessed week ahead!
Love the last verse:
Sareeram aathuma aaviyilum sorndhu pogum velaiyil ellam; Thuthi sathathal ullam niraindhal thooyarin belan kidaikkum.
Everytime you feel weak in your body, soul and mind; fill your heart with Praise, and the Strength of your Maker will fill you!
