Imagine, what must have run through Abraham’s mind when Abraham was told to lay down his son on the altar. “Did I make my son, my idol, by loving him more than I loved God?” “Does God really care about my son, Isaac?” “Didn’t he promise great things about this son of mine?”
After going through a plethora of questions, I’m convinced he came to one conclusion: “God is good. There is not even an iota of thought in God’s mind that would do me harm. In that, I rest my case and move forward. God is good. God is good… every step of the way, God is good.”
God saw this impeccable faith and said, “not your son, but my Son will bear your punishment for sin”. He let Isaac go free and gave his own Son to redeem mankind from the curse of sin.
If ever you have wondered, “Does God really care about my child?”, know for certain that he cares much more than a mother does! “Before I formed you in the womb, I knew you.” Jeremiah 1:5. Even before a mother loved her own child, God did!
This song encapsulates the story of the Cross, in a way that is relatable to all of us. I trust this will draw you closer to see the weight of what Christ did for us and our children on the cross. God is good, God is good, every step of the way, through the sunshine and the rain, God is good.
Thanks for listening!
