“He sent a man before them—
Joseph—who was sold as a slave.” Psalm 105:17
When we read the story of Joseph in the book of Genesis, it almost seems like everything that happened to him was due to the plots of men. But in Psalm when we read the phrase, “He sent a man before them….” our theology goes out the window! In an instant everything becomes incomprehensible, to think that all along, all of this was God working out his plan! Observe how God worked it out! Not a soul would have had a clue that this slave in prison would one day rule the nations!!
Also, see how God sent his Son Jesus into the World. He was born in a lowly Carpenter’s family. Who would have thought that the TRUE King of the nations would be born in a poor Carpenter’s family?
If there is one thing I have come to learn, it is this. You can never predict God’s mind!! What may seem like a happenstance, could have been a divine appointment. You’d never know until many years later why he did what he did and why he did it the way he did! But one thing is FOR SURE – In retrospect there will never be even a nanosecond which we ourselves would want to change. Everything he had done will make us cry, “God, you were good to me! So, so good to me!!”
