Many of my American friends to whom I have asked, usually say that Fall is their favorite season. 🍂🍁🍂 They like the mild chilly breeze and the warm Sun to spice it up just to make it perfect. Well, I get too cold very easily so it’s definitely not my cup of tea! I’d rather be sweating than feel the cold breeze on my skin, even though it’s in the 60’s or 70’s.

The reason could be because I grew up in a tropical city where the average temperature was usually in the 90’s. But there is another reason too. I simply dislike the allergies. The runny nose and the cough. 😷 I disdain it. And this fall I started off sick too. Started off with my son , then my husband, then myself , now my daughter… it has come a full cycle. We have been drinking cups and cups of soup!

I have come to the point that I just dont want to take medicines for allergies. Popping a cetzine or NyQuil or gulping cough syrup seems easy, but it just temporarily relieves the symptoms and pops its ugly head back again in a few hours or makes you sleep for days on end!! So what’s the point of even taking it?

My cough is a unique kind of a cough. Usually when I have allergies, I can feel some yucky feeling on the top of my throat which makes me cough very forceful and hard. If I start coughing I can’t stop coughing. So I’ll have to carry a flask of water with me wherever I go. If I use my voice I cough, if I sing I cough, I just can’t do nothing with my voice. I need the water by my side 24*7. I once thought perhaps if I let some hot steam in my throat those things would disappear. So I would open the running dishwasher with my mouth wide open! Thankfully no one saw me do that!!

I’ve been dealing with this kind of cough for quite a few years now. So, now you know why I don’t like FALL. To me it’s FALLing sick season!

Anyways, last night we went to our Tamil church and we had a beautiful service there. I carried my Orange flask with me even to the stage coz I had a tingly throat which means it could throw me to a horrible cough episode any moment! Thankfully it was under control.

Yesterday ( Saturday evening) I kept asking the Lord, Lord please show me something. I am tired of popping medicines. Show me something Lord… I had tried everything from herbal remedies to OTC medications. Nothing has actually worked for my throat irritation that make me go into long coughs. I was at a low… the medicines were all there in our medicine cabinet. But I said, no Lord… show me something that could ACTUALLY help.

In my medicine cabinet in the corner, was sitting a Vicks vaporub bottle. I had a ‘simple thought’ to just try it. Vicks is something I have never believed in. I used to give my Mom a tough time when she would rub it on my chest when I was a kid!! I used to run around the house and hide!! Oh well!! What goes around comes around is an ancient saying!! 😀 Vicks??!!! I thought to myself… but I was willing to try anything at this point. I took the bottle and rubbed it generously on my throat, chest and nose. I rubbed some on my daughter too, as she protested. Oh, well!

This morning when I woke up, that tingly irritation in my throat was all gone. I kept swallowing my saliva many times to see if could feel it. I normally would feel it. But this morning, it was completely gone, and my cold a lot better. I still had some cough… but it’s not like “that” kind of a cough!! I thank the Lord with my whole heart for relieving my cough – with just ‘a simple thought’.

Many years ago, a similar thing happened when we were about to travel to India. Usually when I travel to India, due to the heat, I would get break outs on my face. I don’t know why it bothered me so much, but it was kinda weighing my heart! I’m sure you’re thinking… of all the things to worry about in life, you would worry about a break out??!!! I KNOW!! It is just as ridiculous to me as it is to you…. But what to do??!! Our human minds!! But here’s the thing… if it MATTERS TO YOU, IT MATTERS TO THE MASTER!”

I had just brushed my teeth and washed my face… and there was a ‘simple thought’ to keep my face moisturized with my usual moisturizer. N’ I don’t use any fancy moisturizer, just the regular Jergens. When that ‘thought’ came to me I realized it was a counsel from the Lord. ( Have you noticed that all the miracles that God did in the scriptures were just by SIMPLE THINGS??!! So much so, that Naaman was offended by what the prophet told him to do!!! )

I thanked the Lord and did exactly the same during our vacation in India. I say this for the glory of God. I had not 1 breakout, which had never happened before.

Jesus is our Mighty God but also our Father and friend who sees EVERY little detail of our lives. He sees every tear, he knows our every thought and HE IS ALIVE!!!

That’s the God who walks with us every single day of our lives. Maybe these could look MICRO in the eyes of men. I have not shared this with anyone for fear of being ridiculed. But Christians are being ridiculed for their faith anyways!! So, why fear??!!! Look at the times we are living in. We are closer to the return of Christ than ever before! And, I know my Savior who lives… HE LIVES WITHIN MY HEART! Do you have JESUS living in your heart??

And guess who sits by my bedside faithfully?!! You guessed it right! Mr VICKS VAPORUB!! 😅😅
