Don’t pick up the Car Keys!!!

I recall Ms Delores, an old African-american lady who asked me to pray for her, coz she felt very lonely. Infact, she was going to her daughters place the very next day to celebrate the New Year!!!

When I met with my college friends (Lavanya, Madhuri, Ramya, Preethy and myself)  for dinner, our topics of discussion ranged from East to the West! Oh! Common, what else do you expect a bunch of girls to do especially when they are meeting up after 5 long years!!! 😀 But towards the end, we got a little serious. We were talking about the evil of old age, and how people get lonely after all their children are married and gone. Our discussion went deeper, and we concluded, “Irrespective of age, there is a time, when we all get lonely”.

I’m doubly sure, you agree with the statement above. No matter who we have around us, no matter how busy we are, no matter how loving our relationships with spouse, parents, cousins, friends, uncles and aunts, are…… there are times when we feel lonely …….. desperately lonely.

During those times, in-order to kill that loneliness, we usually go for a drive, log on to FaceBook, catch up on a movie, or call a friend or just simply eat!! We try various things until we suppress that emotional feeling, down. And sure, on the surface it seems like we feel better, and yes…. We move on….

We fail to understand that we have only suppressed the feeling, and sooner or later we are going to feel the same way again! Many-a-times, in our lives, we get so busy with our work and family that we don’t have time for God. And when we consistently put off God, we eventually hit a point when everything around us seems meaningless. Relationships seem meaningless, our work, our whole life seems like a fleeting waste. And we are broken and crushed on the inside. And still yet, we run to the same old things to feel better…..

The Bible says,

The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit. Psalm 34:18

Broken heartedness and a crushed spirit is often the result of desperate Loneliness. And God’s word says, that the LORD is close to such people. And unless we run to the GIVER OF JOY, we can never get over that Loneliness.  Jesus loves YOU and ME so much that He wants to fill our HEARTS wit His Joy and Peace. And when we do yield to His voice and sit at His feet, assuredly I tell you, your JOY will have NO bounds. Nobody can fill that vaccum in your heart. Only JESUS can.

The next time you feel lonely, don’t pick up your car keys, pick up your Bible and run to JESUS!!!!  JESUS LOVES YOU……YES…… HE REALLY DOES!!!

Have a fabulous month ahead!!!
